THE RISE OF MODEST WEAR IN FASHION

The modest market is evolving from just a “niche market” to taking the fashion world by storm. According to StyleSage, modest fashion as a trend has been accelerated by modest influencers. But the great thing about these young and contemporary influencers is that they merge the hottest trends with a modest twist. Promoting modest fashion that aligns with their values and is equally stylish.

For years, modest fashion has been overlooked by a pool of fashion brands, but in the past 2 years begun to cater to their modest consumers. Expanding to brands in demand by the West such as Zara and even luxury brands ranging from Prada and Dior.
Having grown up in the UAE, I can see the clear influence on luxury fashion with the women and men proudly sporting the latest designer items. It is refreshing to see modest consumers being recognized by fashion brands and luxury brands. Seeing modesty not as a limitation but as a chance to innovate where the design opportunities are limitless. Not only that but modest fashion additions or principles have been welcomed into the apparel of Luxury brands promoting modesty even in the West.
From the way I see it, modest fashion is not something exclusive to Muslims or even Middle Eastern consumers and is a way for modest fashion to influence modern fashion as a whole. For years, modest fashion has been viewed as taboo and oppressive toward one’s femininity; however, I see that it raises the voices of women who choose to dress as such is empowering and is even further empowering with how it does not stop covered women from being stylish.
Judging from the rate modest fashion is taking the fashion world by storm, does this trend look promising for 2024?
